AGENT: SANTA CRUZ NOT JUMPING CITY

Sport.co.uk can confirm that Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz will not be leaving Eastlands during the January transfer window. Reports in The Sun newspaper suggested Spanish La Liga side Espanyol were interested in signing the player on loan until the end of the season, however, in an exclusive interview with Sport.co.uk Santa Cruz’s agent Jan Van Baal confirmed that his client is happy at Manchester City and will not be leaving during the January window.

Santa Cruz was signed by former Manchester City boss Mark Hughes for a fee of £17.5 million and scored two goals in the Welshman's last game in charge of City. Outside of those strikes the Paraguayan has only managed one Carling Cup goal.

Speaking to Sport.co.uk, representative Van Baal made clear: “I think the rumours are all press stories. Roque is not going anywhere. He is staying in Manchester. That is it. I had a call from Espanyol but that link is not happening.

“He will stay at Manchester City. He is happy at Manchester City, and Manchester City are happy to have him. That is the end of it.”
